voice + action ✪ in the middle of that riot couldn't get you off my mind
[ routines are slowly righting themselves after the kin'coran-shaped disruption. buffy summers is working extra hard to claw back what passes for peace in these parts: ]
Maybe it took me way too many months but I finally finished this book I was reading. Kinda puts me in a bit of a pickle 'cause now I need something else to distract me during downtime at the bar. [ and distract her from other, less publicity-friendly things. ]
So? Folks? Pitch me your best reading recommendations so I can beat the New Feather rush. My only demand is that there be happy endings a-plenty. Or at least a lot of good vibes. Maybe something chock-full of forgiveness or charity or something else equally virtuous. [ ... ] But entertainingly. Boring books need not apply.
Oh. And while I have your attention...has anyone seen any bridal magazines around town?
[ she'll field suggestions for a while before risking the weather on her way to library. this is a grand sort of affair -- buffy reads only infrequently and so choosing a new book is a little like buying a new car. she has to be certain it'll serve her well in the long-term. as in other corners of her life, she wants a faithful companion; she doesn't want a weekend fling.
otherwise? she'll have a pile of book-finalists with her at good spirits and she'll be leafing through them between filled orders. housemates can catch her at house seven earlier in the day, before she leaves. ]

Hey, Buffy.
[Action]
How's life? [ the question is just a little carefully posed. after all, she remembers what katara told her last time they spoke. ]
[Action]
It's been a rough few weeks, honestly. Between all the Kin'Corra stuff a-and some of the family going home a few weeks ago. But... I think I've been feeling a little better.
[Action]
Hard to say.
[Action]
Thanks, Buffy. I've had to deal with a lot of loss in the past. It... it really helps to have good friends around. It doesn't make the pain go away completely, but - more like that thing you said about it becoming less sharp.

You're right. Thinking about it like that helps me to feel a little better. And... the oldest granddaughter, Jinora is still here. Y'know, she's the one who got me to start readin- [He breaks off suddenly.] Hold on, it's kinda weird to have this conversation through a bookcase.
[Aang steps away from the gap in the bookcase and walks around to Buffy's side.]

You didn't read before? Huh. I totally would have pegged you for a reader. Boys' own adventure.

See? That's my problem. I want a happy ending! I want one so bad...

Yeah, she didn't have a fair life. She knew the future but couldn't do anything to stop all the bad things from happening.

Right! I didn't mean just for me. We all in the end have the power to shape our own destinies and work towards what's best for us. Thinking like that just helps me to feel a lot better about my future, and less like I'll suffer like Cassandra.
